CHICAGO (September 16, 2020) -- Trust20, an upgraded safety and certification program for restaurants across North America has launched a partnership with Gordon Food Service and General Mills Foodservice to promote safer restaurants and increase consumer confidence when dining out. The Gordon Food Service and General Mills collaboration demonstrates a shared commitment to enhanced health and safety guidelines for foodservice industry staff and diners in the new normal.
The Trust20 model is built on 20 tactics developed in collaboration with industry and functional experts (e.g. cleaning & sanitizing, space design, food specialists, etc.), making the combined expertise of Trust20, Gordon Food Service and General Mills a powerful industry alliance. With each organization's deep roots in the restaurant operator and owner communities, the upgraded safety guidelines will be further amplified to create safer spaces for both staff and diners.
Nick Florek, General Manager of Trust20, said, “It is incredible to have the support of companies like Gordon Food Service and General Mills - organizations that are leaders in the food and foodservice industries for over 150 years. We are excited to boost the Trust20 voice as diners across the country look to foodservice industry experts for more effective health and safety procedures when dining out.”
“Restaurants have a lot on their plate right now as they navigate the pandemic and work diligently to welcome back diners as safely as possible,” Bruce Allen, President and General Manager of Foodservice at General Mills. “General Mills looks forward to partnering with Gordon Food Service to raise awareness about Trust20 and help restaurants take steps to instill consumer confidence in dining out again.”

Core components of the Trust20 program are on-site restaurant certification inspections and a set of resources to help restaurant operators meet enhanced diner expectations.
